This is a walking holiday filled with festive cheer – no glaring tinsel or loud parties I promise, this is a more relaxed and pampering type of festive cheer, with traditional wooden decorations, fresh fir trees, modern day pampering and peaceful villages and walks.
In fact this holiday is great if you want to either treat yourself over the festive period, or simply join like-minded souls for some peaceful time out and refreshing walks to combat the excesses. I can´t promise we wont´ tempt you a little with fabulous food! But you will get the chance to blast away the cobwebs and revel in the beauty and restoring nature of winter.
You will be chilling out in a fabulous country hotel, a place of calm and luxurious indulgence with an informal and relaxing atmosphere. There´s a little lounge with a fire for relaxing in front of on the sofa. Bedrooms are spacious, with bespoke wooden furniture, lovely fabrics and wallpapers, hand-made bubble bath and teas and coffees. There´s even a treatment room, with a 10% discount for Foot Trails guests, so enjoy a massage or facial if you wish!
Your hosts are the co-founders of Foot Trails, Alison and David Howell, who will ensure you have a relaxing and enjoyable holiday, and share stories and tales from the Wiltshire countryside with you as you walk. They will even recount the odd poem or two!
And you are going deep into this area of outstanding natural beauty, that sits on the Wiltshire and Dorset borders. It´s a real treat in the low light of winter, because it´s a very atmospheric and mysterious place. Your walks over the course of your holiday reveal places such as Pottle street, an iron-age hill fort, the curvaceous Deverill valley, lakes, mills, water meadows and the most beautiful Wiltshire villages filled with quirky old cottages from where wood-smoke furls leisurely out of the chimney pots. It´s delightful... and peaceful, and very relaxing...
We will be traveling to the start of our trails by private mini coach, meaning we can explore a little further afield and really enjoy the very best walking in the area.
We shall need to eat en route of course, and David´s walks include lovely atmospheric country pubs where you will be able to warm your toes by the fire as you enjoy a nice fresh soup... the sort of places with huge fireplaces, ancient beams and flagstone floors. A pub lunch is included every day.
Ideal for couples, solos or friends, we have 12 places available ensuring our group is relaxed and friendly... those who travel with us describe our holidays as more like relaxed get togethers than a group holiday, and I believe that refers to our desire to treat all our guests as individuals.
