It is impossible to describe to you the scale of the scenery on The Cranborne Chase. Come and discover walking that will take you to where the earth meets the skies.
These Foot Trails will lead you through Dorset's expanse of picturesque countryside, revealing far reaching views and panoramas over gently rolling curves and downs.
These are the lands that inspired great English author Thomas Hardy. Whether or not you are a fan of his novels, it is impossible not to be impressed by the countryside here.
You will visit Shaftesbury, an old Saxon town that perches on the edge of the Chase. Here there are cobbled streets to explore and a wonderful cafe for lunch with Dorset apple cake and clotted cream.
You will stay at a delightful 17th century coaching inn near Shaftesbury. It offers spacious rooms with creature comforts and exceptional food and drink.
Shaftesbury & The Chase is a 2 night weekend walking break, starting on Friday evening. The walking is at an enjoyable pace. Saturday we walk 8 miles (13km), Sunday 5 miles (8 km).
