The Bluebell Trail, Wiltshire
The Itinerary
Friday
During your Bluebell Trail you will be staying at a carefully chosen 17th century coaching inn near Salisbury, Wiltshire. Charming and spacious character bedrooms are a real treat, many with original features, and the menu has plenty of tempting treats on offer.
Foot Trails co-founder Alison Howell will welcome you in the evening and you'll enjoy dinner together, with your fellow guests.
Saturday
You'll set off after a good breakfast for our Bluebell Trail. Our guide David has scoured the south west for the best Bluebell and spring flower displays. You will have a glorious day discovering unspoilt Wiltshire villages, ancient churches, fantastic countryside views.
The wild Bluebell woodlands occupy some really idyllic spots. The carpets of striking indigo flowers, alongside pure white Wood Anemone and deep bottle green leaves are simply breath-taking. There is a pub lunch to enjoy on route and you'll return to your country inn late afternoon to relax before rewarding your efforts with dinner!
Sunday
Linger over a leisurely Sunday breakfast before today's Medieval Villages walk. Discover beautiful countryside, peaceful and ancient and uncover their secrets - some saw tea and silk which was brought here by Smugglers. There are some lovely patches of Bluebells which sweep out from the woods and into the grassy meadows.
Monday (For those on the 3 night trail)
Wake after a peaceful nights sleep to enjoy breakfast with scrambled eggs and smoked salmon, pastries, yoghurt, cereral or bacon!
Today you'll enjoy a trail that explores a different corner of south Wiltshire. Discover the village where stone was quarried for Salisbury Cathedral. You'll follow one of the old Stonemason's trail, also lined with pretty Bluebells and spring flowers. We'll enjoy Sunday lunch on route at a rather lovely traditional Wiltshire pub (flag-stone floors!) and return refreshed, relaxed and exhilarated by our walking experiences.
