This has to be one of the most perfect autumn walking escapes. This medieval theme holiday has splendour indeed, with its 14th century thatched country inn, log fires, seasonal walks, ancient castle, pretty villages and wonderful country pubs. Autumn changes the countryside here to golden, red and orange hues, making it quite delightful.

Our special 2 night holiday is based in a 14th century medieval country inn near Shaftesbury, an award-winning inn with cosy country bedrooms, real log fire, low hung wooden beams and flagstone flloors. You'll sleep like a dream. Wake for breakfast, then off out to explore the local countryside.

On day one, A Knights Medieval Castle, an idyllic 8 or 10 mile walk with a romantic castle, misty lakes, medieval villages and beautiful countryside, with an old England feel. The walk features the dramatic castle, take time to visit the former banqueting hall and bedrooms... and discover its battle during the civil war. Fabulous country pub for lunch.

On day two, Beckford's Folly, a 6 mile or 8 mile walk takes you through the wonderful 18th century estate of the Beckford family. There are lakes, woodland, autumnal trees and views, and lots of fungi. (guide included in your pack). With our walk pack and well researched trails you won't get lost - just follow the trails on the maps, or, if you don't want to map read, follow our easy to follow trail cards, packed with local stories and histories.

Back to the inn each day for restaurant standard food.

Includes: 2 nights accommodation with creature comforts, en-suite at a village inn, breakfast, 2 days independent walking, walk pack with local Ordnance survey maps with your trails marked, or alternatively, waterproof trail cards, easy to follow (no need to map read) one for each day, fungi spotting nature guide and suggested itinerary and lunch spots. (lunch not included)

From £149 person mid-week, £189 person weekends, upgrade to half board, £48 per person, 3 courses both nights
