Independent self–guided walking holidays
Relaxing, authentic, indulgent

Local knowledge and expertise

Our local knowledge and expertise comes from hours on the ground and out in the countryside, walking trails and trying routes, staying at country inns and trying out lunchtime country pubs. All so you can have the ultimate walking holiday.

This unrivalled passion for excellence in our walking holidays means that your walking holiday will be relaxing, well organised and memorable for all the right reasons. We organise absolutely everything, beginning with how you will travel, where you will stay, what time you should set off in the morning so you don't miss lunch and ensuring you don't miss the best historic sites and pubs on route.

Over 100 trails to choose from

With over 100 different trails in Wiltshire, Dorset, Somerset and the Cotswolds, (rural South West England) you have plenty of choice. Our award-winning independent (self-guided) walking holidays range from 5 to 7 miles to up to 10 miles. We also have self guided walking holidays that are car free or dog friendly, from 2 nights to a week or longer. If you don't see what you want do let us know, we organise numerous bespoke trips for corporate companies and individuals.

Finding your way is easy

When you are walking you will want to relax and enjoy the view, so we make sure it's easy to find your way. We give you everything you need in your own personalised pack, and send it a week before you arrive. Our maps are proper Ordnance survey maps, not photocopies, so you can follow our routes using these, or if you don't like map reading, or can't, don't worry, our innovative waterproof trail cards give step by step instructions which are really easy to follow. They also include stories and histories to enjoy on the way. Everything is tried and tested, and in 8 years we haven't lost anyone yet!

Stay somewhere special

Foot Trails are the only travel company in the world to specialise solely in gorgeous English country inns as our accommodation, so you won't find this experience anywhere else. We don't use b&b´s. We only work with the best that rural England has to offer. We hand-pick all of our country inns and stay the night and eat there to ensure they meet our criteria list. Most are located in English villages, one or two in small country towns. All offer bedrooms with creature comforts, en-suite bedrooms and really great food which reflects the local produce of the place you are coming to explore. Like ourselves, many have deservedly won awards.

No national trails

This might surprise you, but Foot Trails aren't very keen on national trails. We prefer less well known rural routes. Places where there aren't crowds of walkers or visitors, and you can enjoy the scenery in peace and quiet. Because we use our local knowledge and expertise we also make sure you explore the best places that reflect what each county has to offer.

We know the local villages, the country pubs, where to find the best views or the best displays of bluebells for example. How do we know? We have been walking and exploring as a company here for 8 years and we make it our business to know where the best walking is.
