A Trio of Shires. Not one or two but three gorgeous shires. First Wiltshire. Enjoy rich landscape gardens, ancient flint and brick cottages, medieval villages, stories and big skies. Onto Dorsetshire to walk alongside the River Stour. Superb old watermills, the sound of water thundering over weirs, abundant nature. Look out for Herons, Otters, Kingfishers amongst others. Stop for a pint or sit and just enjoy the views.

These Inn to Inn trips make great journeys for minds and feet. Whilst your luggage is transported ahead, and your routes and arrangements are all taken care of, you are free to travel light, float on the breeze, tuck into your Kendal mint cake when you please and simply enjoy the views. Ingenious.

  • Admire the far reaching views over some of the best preserved open chalk down land in England and look out for the wildflowers and butterflies that still thrive here.
  • Stand in the middle of an iron-age hill fort, the breeze tugging at your hair as the views stretch for over 30 miles before you.
  • Gaze out on the Blackmore Vale. This is Thomas Hardy´s "Vale of the Little Dairies" and today you will still find the same small patchwork fields, thatch cottages and old ruined churches, bliss.
  • Walk along the River Stour; listen to the sound of the water and the roar as it falls over the weir at the ancient mill.
  • Is this Camelot? So claim many locals, wander the hill top of this ancient fort and take in the stunning views across the Somerset countryside.
  • Admire the view across the "Yeo valley", a rich and fertile farming area, dotted with grazing black and white dairy cattle.
  • Enjoy the beautiful town of Sherborne, with its simply stunning abbey, one of the finest ceilings in Europe.
  • A local farm shop lets you sample much of the food and local cheeses produced in this area and your inn serves a wide range of local food too.
