Foot Trails Oak Tree Ceremony - Celebrating Foot Trails "Big Tick" for rural action |
Awards & AccoladesHow important are awards? I think that awards are important in demonstrating Foot Trails comittment to excellence, our desire to strive to be the very best we can, with the walking holiday experiences that we offer you. In recent years we have been honoured with 6 awards, the recognition of which belongs to a great many people, including you, our loyal guests. Here is a bit more information about Foot Trails awards. The Big Tick for Rural Action - 2008, 2009 & 2010We felt so proud to acheive this award, the only UK travel company to be awarded the Big Tick, by Prince Charles's charity, Business in the Community. We were given the award in recognition of the way our business strategy and objectives combine with our corporate responsibility objectives. Our aim, to offer fantastic walking experiences by supporting rural businesses and economies, and in a way that is as sustainable as possible. Foot Trails reached the final 5 in the UK in this category, and David and I were invited to celebrate at 10 Downing Street and to talk about our experiences at the Select Committee for Corporate Responsibility at the Houses of Parliment. Thank you to all our wonderful inns, transport partners, lunchtime pubs and to you. What a day! Watch a video of the day > Green Tourism Business Scheme Award - Silver 2006 & Gold 2009Green issues have become much more main stream since we began Foot Trails, and what a good job they have. No longer are those who decide to consider the environment in the way they run their business considered strange or with beards! In August 2006 Foot Trails became the first Wiltshire tourism company to acheive the silver Green Tourism Business Scheme award, and in 2009 we exceeded this achievement by gaining gold, in recognition of the 60 measures that we have introduced to benefit the environment. Our work continues. Gold South West Tourism Excellence Award - 2007When Gill of the Sunday Express announced the winner of the Tourism Experience of the Year in Gloucestershire, I let the other companies pass ahead of me, so convinced was I we had not won. I was wrong! It was such a huge honour to recieve this award from our tourism industry peers, and be named the best of hundreds of businesses in south west England. Country Living - Enterprising Rural Woman Awards finalist 2006I think only now do I realise the significance of reaching these finals and being named one of the UK's most enterprising rural women, I am hugely proud of this. Meeting the other winners and finalists at Hampton Court, it felt wonderful to be part of a set of women who are working to change rural business in England. |
