Ancient Wiltshire Landscapes
(Self guided walking holiday)

Trail overview

Where? – Nr Warminster, Wiltshire
When? – 2010 dates available now

Such gorgeous little old English villages adorn this ancient part of south wiltshire, with fantastic names such as Friggle Street, Trussenhayes and Tomkins Pool. You'll come here for the amazing combination of ancient history and scenic beauty. Our trails will sweep you gently upwards from the grand estates of Lords and Dukes to the more down to earth curvaceous ridges of chalk that give this area its distinct character. On route you'll find tales of Celtic tribes, Saxon kings and Neolithic peoples and a rich varied wildlife and nature.

Today thatched cottages puncture rambling rural patchworks of lanes, brooks, greens and moors. And rising up dramatically on the horizon, the iron age hill fort of Cley stands solitary on the landscape keeping watch as it has done for centuries.
